God is our Deliverer in the midst of the storm and He is able to deliver us from the COVD-19 pandemic.

Deliverers of our Time

I cannot get over how brave health professionals have been in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Several weeks ago, I watched a video of a NHS staff member who, along with her family, had become infected with the Corona Virus. She was very positive and looked forward to her quarantine being over, so she could go back to work and help look after sick people.

There was also a story about a nurse who was critically ill as a result of the virus. She was described as being very grateful for the opportunity to serve as a nurse before she became ill.

These health professionals are our present day heroes – deliverers if you like. They put their lives on the line to fight for humanity.

A Great Deliverer in History

David, a Bible character, was also a very brave and great hero. As a young shepherd, he risked his life to save his sheep from a lion and also a bear, when they tried to attack his flock.

1 Samuel 17 records that David also delivered his country from attack by an enemy nation. Even though he was only a young man, he was brave enough to challenge and defeat the champion of the enemy nation – a Philistine giant named Goliath.

David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 2 Samuel 22:1 – 2

The Greatest Deliverer that Lives on

However, Jesus (a descendant of David) is the greatest hero that ever lived. He actually still lives because He was God in human form, and ascended back to heaven after rising from the dead after three days as was recorded in Acts 1: 9 – 12.

Jesus not only humbled Himself to the point of coming to live as a human on earth and giving up His life for humanity. He also lives forever in our hearts and is able to do whatever it takes to get us through not only the COVID-19 pandemic, but every challenge we will ever experience.

As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God! Psalms 70:5

God will Deliver us

Humanity has survived some serious pandemics in the past including the Spanish Flu of 1918 and the Hong Kong Flu of 1968. Therefore, I know without the shadow of a doubt that we will definitely survive the COVID-19 pandemic as we are in a better position to tackle and handle it.

Concerning the COVID-19 crisis, I challenge you to say like David, “The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” – 1 Samuel 17:37 ESV.

God, who delivered humanity from the many epidemics that have occurred in our history, will surely deliver us from the COVID-19 pandemic.
