The Word of God is a a life giving Spirit that can bring back life to any dead situation
Psalms 82:6 says “I said, ‘You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High’ “. So we are children of God – gods just like Him.
Like God our Father, when we speak the Word of God, (just like He did in Gen 1:3 – Then God said “let there be light” and there was light), it is translated into a messenger that goes to work to make sure the Word accomplishes the purpose for which it was spoken. Amazingly, this is no ordinary messenger. This messenger is God Himself, God the Holy Spirit, who never fails but hastens after His Word (which we speak) to perform it (Jeremiah 1: 12b).
The Word of God is like Rain That Waters the Earth
Isaiah 55:10 begins: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55: 10 – 11. Alleluia!
There goes another explanation actually. The rain waters the earth. We now know that the Word of God is like water as John 15:3 says, “you are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” (See the last blog – The Word of God is a Spirit Part 1 for more insight on this)
What happens when rain falls on the earth? Things come to life, dull plants receive life, plant forms blossom and sometimes even dead /dying plant forms receive life. Amen! This explains why the Word of God is so potent – to the point of raising the dead and bringing life to dead situations.
Therefore, the Word of God is not just mere words we speak to sound like good or faith filled Christians. The Word of God is actually a life giving Spirit that can bring back life to any dead situation – “…but the spirit gives life.” – 2 Corinthians 3:6.
The Word of God is Quick and Powerful
How can mere words be Quick and Powerful? How do spoken words discern what people are thinking? Because when the words spoken are God’s words, the Spirit of God is actually practically and literally unleashed to go to work and deal with the situations.
Unfortunately, the Devil seeks to keep us from speaking the Word because he knows that is where our deliverance lies. He seeks to burden us with the cares and miseries of life so that we are so overwhelmed we focus on our problems, and not on the power of God to deliver us, leaving us unwilling to speak the Word. “They defeated him through the blood of the Lamb and the bold word of their witness…” Rev 12:11 MSG
I find Hebrews 4:12 very exciting as it really helps drive this truth home. It says “And the Word of God (the Spirit of God Himself) is quick, living, active, powerful, and sharper than any double edged sword (which means the Word (God the Spirit) is unstoppable), penetrating ( our lives) even to the point of dividing soul from spirit (does the impossible), and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires, thoughts and intentions of the heart (has a solution before we even grasp things)” – parentheses mine.
I pray that the Lord will constantly remind us of the greatness of His power and grant us the courage to speak His Word even in the most difficult times. I challenge you to speak the Word – invoke the life giving Spirit of God – into that situation today and watch God get right on it to perform it.
Amen!!!
